Blackburn Train Station

Blackburn Train Station foyer is now fully underway.

A slight problem was noticed when MD Stuart began the initial structure, works had to be halted within an hour of starting.

This unexpected delay in the initial start was soon remedied and A secondary  crash deck was ordered due to a lack of suitable protection being afforded to patrons of the stations café. and phase one was completed.

Phase 2 saw The fully designed scaffold structure installed for the protection of patrons passing through the foyer to and from the platforms is now being sheeted and ply boarded to prevent any form debris passing through the scaffold before the additional table lifts are installed.  

The vast crash deck provides protection over the entire pedestrian area, the design of which was commissioned towards the end of August. Once this was signed off by Network Rail, 7 new sets of work clothing in the hi visibility orange were purchased and the work began.

To ensure maximum safety for pedestrians, the work was undertaken throughout the night with access being gained between 11pm and 5 am. We are now back to working our normal hours of 7:30am – 4:30 pm.
